sustainable development report

The Sustainable Development Report 2011, formerly the Corporate Citizenship Report, for Aquarius Platinum Limited (Aquarius) addresses the Group’s performance as it relates to economic, social and environmental as well as governance issues.

This Sustainable Development Report has been compiled in line with the principles of the G3.1 reporting guidelines of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). This report covers both Group operations in South Africa and its 50% investment in the Mimosa mining operation in Zimbabwe, although more detail is provided on the South African operations, in line with South African reporting regulations and as required by the Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act (MPRDA) and the accompanying Broad-Based Socio-Economic Charter for the South African Mining Industry (Mining Charter). Aquarius will continue to incrementally improve its reporting on sustainability.

This report should be read in conjunction with the Annual Report.  Both reports highlight that we act in the best interests of shareholders, employees, local communities and the local and global environments in which we operate. Aquarius also produces an annual Mineral Resource and Reserve Technical Statement.

The newsletter deals with a range of issues - from production to safety and health, from human resources to community relations.

The transformation of AQPSA will be a key theme in each newsletter and we recognise that companies need to change and that transformation needs to occur at all levels.
